Faculty Professional Development Opportunities
In 2026-27, the Arts Integration Program, in collaboration with Academic Programs and the Green Music Center, will offer opportunities for faculty to connect with professional artists and each other through a faculty learning community and several faculty exchanges. These professional development opportunities aim to foster the exploration of interdisciplinary teaching practices and experiential learning opportunities for students through the arts.
Arts Integration Faculty Learning Community
This Faculty Learning Community (FLC) will help faculty develop and deepen techniques for integrating the arts into their teaching.
FLC members will connect over four sessions led by Green Music Center 2026-27 Artist-in-Residence Beatrice Thomas (a.k.a. Black Benatar, pictured) with co-moderation by SSU Arts Dramaturg Prof. Scott Horstein, and Green Music Center staff members Becky Cale and Erin Donohue. Beatrice Thomas is a multidisciplinary artist, producer, consultant, and storyteller, and the founder of Authentic Arts and Media. Her work engages themes of cultural identity, racial justice, and queer visibility through performance, visual arts, and community-centered media.

Arts Integration Faculty Exchanges
Faculty from all disciplines with teaching appointments in the 2026-27 academic year are invited to participate in a series of Arts Integration Faculty Exchanges. These sessions will involve moderated discussions about various arts integration methods and practices, and will also include conversation with artists.
Registration is required to participate in each event and space is limited. All Faculty Exchange participants will receive a complimentary ticket to attend the performance that immediately follows (schedule below) and refreshments will be served at each exchange. Participation in all sessions is welcome, but not required.
